Detailed Route Information for our August 6th Wilburton Walking Tour

Thank you to everybody who has registered for our Wilburton Walking Tour on August 6th from 11 am to 1 pm! We’re excited to tour the neighborhood with you and talk about all the ways that the neighborhood will be growing and changing over the coming years. If you haven’t RSVP’ed yet, what are you waiting for? Sign up here.

The above map highlights the planned route for the day’s walk. We will begin at the Wilburton light rail station, which is at the corner of NE 8th St & 118th Ave NE. We’ll then head westward along NE 8th St towards 116th Ave NE, turn south, and walk towards NE 4th St. We’ll turn left onto NE 4th, then eventually left onto 120th Ave NE before we arrive back at NE 8th St and end the festivities at the Pumphouse Bar and Grill. The slow-paced walk around the block will be a little over 1 mile and will feature one significant uphill.

To get your brain juices flowing, here’s a sneak peek of what we’ll be talking about at each of the points labelled on the above map:

Stop 1: Connecting to light rail through multimodal access
Stop 2: 116th Ave as a grand boulevard
Stop 3: Developing high-quality public spaces
Stop 4: Bad development and how to prevent it
Stop 5: Connections to Eastrail & the rest of the region
Stop 6: Encouraging a mix of small, local, & diverse businesses

This list is in no way meant to be comprehensive, so be prepared for lots of talk on housing, equity, sustainability, and even trees! We’re so excited to share the time & space with you, and we’re looking forward to an amazing event.

Detailed route information for our biking event on Saturday, August 13th will be coming very soon, so stay tuned! Sign up for that event here.
