Thank you again to those of you who attended our Wilburton Walking Tour this past weekend! It was a great, informative event with tons of excellent feedback from all participants, and we can’t thank you enough for taking part in it with us. To get the scoop on what went down, read our article here.
Tomorrow morning at 11 am, the festivities continue with our Wilburton Biking Tour! Later this fall, Bellevue will be deciding where to make tactical improvements to bicycle infrastructure in the city’s growth corridors, including in the Wilburton neighborhood. With light rail opening in just a short time, we need to make sure that people getting around the station area will be able to do so safely on two wheels.
We’ll start at the Operations & Maintenance Facility East (OMFE), right by the entrance to Eastrail on 120th Ave NE. Our ride will take us south, along 120th Ave NE, until we reach NE 4th St. There, we’ll take a right turn, then another right on 116th Ave NE to travel north. One more right onto NE 8th St will be followed by a left turn back onto 120th Ave NE as we travel to the Spring District to end the ride at Bellevue Brewing Company. The total route will be approximately 2.4 miles and will feature two gradual uphills.
The route will involve some road riding, but we will be in a decent-sized group and will be sticking together. The ride will be at a slow, comfortable pace, and we’ll make frequent stops to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly about the infrastructure we’ve seen. We’re also happy to announce that we’ll have Shannon Mangan from Cascade Bicycle Club joining us, who will be riding at the back of our group to take care of any emergency mechanical repairs that might be needed. Thank you Shannon for your help!
Have you signed up for the event yet? If not, RSVP here, and be sure to join us tomorrow, August 13th, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Looking forward to seeing you there!
